One Week, One Neighborhood 2018

By April 30, 2018Blog

Harmony Project’s award-winning One Week, One Neighborhood program raises the bar this year with projects that go beyond beautification — reaching into school classrooms, a movie theatre, and a prison.

Hundreds of volunteers will generate a few thousand hours of service to Central Ohio in projects that include:
  • Cleaning of grounds and planting flowers at the Lincoln Theatre
  • A neighborhood cleanup in the Northland community
  • Children from the north, south, east, and west sides of Columbus join voices in a performance at Northland Performing Arts Center on Thursday, May 3. Doors open at 6:30 pm; Performance begins at 7 pm. Tickets are free.
  • Mentoring children from Champion Middle School, who will participate in a week of after-school activities focusing on increased self-esteem and giving back to their community.
  • Hosting a 50th anniversary screening of “Planet of the Apes” at Gateway Film Center and creating a public art mural depicting an iconic scene from the film. Click here for tickets and information.
  • Presenting a concert for the entire incarcerated population of Ohio Reformatory for Women.
  • Creating a large-scale mural at Ohio Reformatory for Women, painted by inmates and community leaders and volunteers
