Columbus, OH: In its second year, Harmony Project’s free-to-the-public Concert for Community fills Columbus Commons on Thursday, June 6, at 7:30pm.
The Concert for Community will create a significant, memorable, and measurable opportunity to share kindness and increase access to the arts for a record-attendance crowd. Through the 500-voice Spirit of Columbus choir, the 30-piece Harmony Band and Orchestra, the Columbus Children’s Choir, the Thiossane West African Drum circle, talented individual artists, and original arrangements of classic tunes, the music and art will provoke civic pride and community engagement among audience members. The evening will be hosted by the Honorable Michael B. Coleman, former Mayor of Columbus, and Janelle N. Coleman, President of the LBrands Foundation and Vice President of Community Relations for LBrands.
The concert is made possible by our partners in kindness, Kind Columbus at The Columbus Foundation, whose mission is to build community by using the power of unconditional acts of kindness. Additionally, generous in-kind and monetary gifts were given by Lead Sponsor LBrands Foundation, the Big Lots Foundation, Dispatch Media Group, Wolfe Associates Inc., Tonic Studios, Huntington Bank, Donatos Pizza, Cameron Mitchell, Cardinal Health, Columbus Recreation and Parks, Columbia Gas, Mount Carmel, AIDS Health Care Foundation, Macy’s Easton, Dickinson-Wright, Ice Miller, and hundreds of individual donors.
The park gates open at 6pm, with the Columbus Children’s Choir opening the show at 7:15pm and the Harmony Project Spirit of Columbus choir taking the stage promptly at 7:30pm.
