Project Hope Mission:

  • Promote the development of children through the arts
  • Build stronger communities by highlighting the similarities of the children and incorporating those children into community service projects within their own neighborhoods
  • Showcase the children as ambassadors for their city, highlighting the diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Raise awareness throughout the city of the needs of the shelter house communities and the need for accessible arts programming for all children
  • Provide hope for the future of our city through the creative development of the leaders of tomorrow
  • Project Hope offers the opportunity for children to express themselves in a safe and creative environment, and encourages them to share their experience with the community in which they live.

Project Hope unites 100 children from inner-city and suburban neighborhoods promoting interaction and artistic development. The children of Project Hope experience painting, photography, dance, singing, journaling and nutrition education.

The program promotes positive child development through music, dance, drama, painting, photography, nutritional education and art and service projects.

“I saw a young boy in our program who was always angry and acting out become a little softer, and a little easier to talk to after his participation in Project Hope. Every week he was greeted with smiles and attention and you can’t underestimate what that can do for a child.”

    -Settlement House program coordinator

“My daughter participated in Project Hope. Thank you for giving her this opportunity. We often hear her singing at night when she is in bed, and she sings the song she learned at Project Hope.”

    -Project Hope parent

“I was so glad to have this experience for my son. He met other boys he would have never had the opportunity to meet. From the first day, an environment was created that fostered interaction among the children. My son refers to the other students as his friends now and speaks of them all the time.”
